5 Steps for Brain-Building: Serve and Return (New Zealand)
This video was created by Moana Research and adapted with permission by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University and in collaboration with Brainwave Trust Aotearoa. It explains and illustrates five steps of "serve and return" interactions that are core to responsive caregiving and brain building. The five steps are:
1) share the focus;
2) support and encourage;
3) name it;
4) take turns; and
5) practice endings and beginnings.

This New Zealand video is an adapation of the same video developed by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University.
How relevant or applicable are these 5 steps in your context?
How could you use an every day routine to support a caregiver to practice serve and return interactions?
