Almost half of all children under five – an estimated 250 million children worldwide – fail to meet their developmental potential in the first five years of life. There is a growing body of evidence looking at what interventions work or show promise, however there is scant information on how to implement effective programs at scale.
In May 2018 the New York Academy of Sciences published a special edition of their Annals containing 19 papers on implementation research and practice. The series sets out the case for effective scaling up of nurturing care interventions, and looks at experiences in Australia, Brazil, Colombia, India, Jamaica, Malawi, Pakistan, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
