WHO, UNICEF, the ECD Action Network (ECDAN) and the Africa Early Childhood Network (AfECN) convened a meeting of nine countries in West and Central Africa to explore implementation of the Nurturing Care Framework in the health sector. Over 80 participants from Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Mali, Niger, São Tomé et Principe and Sénégal attended the 3 day meeting in Libreville, Gabon (July 9-11, 2019).
Among the participants were Ministers of Health responsible for maternal and child health and nutrition as well as respresentatives from other ECD-related ministries (e.g., education, child protection, social protection). Also in attendance were UNICEF and WHO staff representing country, regional, and headquarter offices as well as partners from AfECN, ECDAN, PATH, Plan Internationl, USAID, World Vision, Jacobs Foundation and Lego Foundation.
