The American Academy of Pediatrics put a spotlight on nurturing care during their 2018 National Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, U.S.A..

As part of the global health and community paediatrics stream, a 2.5 hour session was organized on the theme of early childhood development (November 2).  Speakers addressed ECD in the global context, the Nurturing Care Framework, and the importance of nutrition for children’s development.  Practical implementation examples from Bangladesh brought theoretical concepts to life.  Over 100 participants were much engaged and eager to learn more.

The key messages found resonance in the official opening ceremony of the Conference in which two eminent speakers reflected upon their childhood illustrating the impact of adversity as well as the power of care.
