Centro per la Salute del Bambino onlus – Center for Child Health and Development (CSB) and Save the Children convened a meeting to present the Nurturing Care Framework to the Italian Parliament. The meeting was attended by MPs from both the ruling and opposition parties and representatives from the Ministry of Health, Instituto Superiore di Sanità, professional associations (paediatricians, educators), Associations of Parents, and Foundations.
Dr. Chiara Servili, World Health Organization, illustrated the rationale and process for the development of the NCF. Dr. Giorgio Tamburlini, CSB, discussed the relevance and the implications of the NCF for Italy. Dr. Saulini from Save the Children chaired the meeting.
The President of the 12th Commission of the House (Social Affairs), MP Mrs. Lorefice, sent a welcome message and recognized the importance of the Nurturing Care Framework (NCF) document and committed to work on its implementation. The Minister of Health Dr. Grillo also sent her greetings. Dr. Battilomo from the Ministry of Health described the process for a technical review on the first 1000 days, which will be soon published. The discussion was rich, with a strong commitment taken from the MPs and several other participants underlying the importance of the NCF and the need for multi-sector coordinated efforts. An audition will be soon organized on the NCF at the 12th Commission. CSB will ensure follow-up and dissemination.
