The United Nations Secretary General’s initiative, Every Woman Every Child (EWEC), is producing a series of Q and As with leading experts across multiple fields to share insights into how COVID-19 is affecting women, children and adolescents.
In this webinar we hear from Anshu Banerjee, Director of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing.
Highlights from the interview:
- Mothers and women must have access to routine services for physical and mental health;
- Right now there are no known cases of transmission from mother to child and there has been no presence of COVID-19 in breastmilk;
- Mothers with COVID-19 are encouraged to breastfeed;
- In general, we know that children are less affected than older adults, but among children, those under 5 have a bigger chance of being severely affected.
