Description
The World Health Organization has launched the Global Scales for Early Development (GSED) webinar series 2025-2026. The first session is “Bridging the Gap: Understanding the Role of GSED in ECD Measurement”.
Developed by WHO and global collaborators, the GSED is an innovative package designed to measure early childhood development up to 36 months of age globally, using a standardized metric — the Developmental-score (D-score). This first webinar will highlight why effective measurement in ECD is critical and the unique value of the GSED package.
The webinar is structured to cater to both technical and non-technical participants, ensuring comprehensibility across varying levels of expertise.
Webinar highlights:
- Why ECD measurement matters for shaping policy, care, and research
- Overview of the GSED package: what it is—and what it is not
- Implementation considerations
- Live Q&A session with our panel (which will inform the one pager summary that will follow to all participants)
Presenters and moderators:
The webinar will feature a panel of experts involved in the development, validation and use of the GSED:
- Tarun Dua (World Health Organization, Switzerland)
- Magdalena Janus (McMaster University, Canada)
- Ambreen Nizar (Aga Khan University, Pakistan)
