Description
On 22 April 2026, Kazakhstan hosted the high-level regional conference “𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥: 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯”, bringing together the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, representatives of other governments, international organizations, experts, and partners from across Central Asia.
Opened by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, the conference served as a platform to advance practical solutions for strengthening primary health care, reducing inequalities, supporting early childhood development, creating safer school and digital environments, and promoting the mental health of children and young people. Special attention was given to the voices of children and youth — their needs, expectations, and meaningful participation in decision-making.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted in his opening remarks:
“Policies for children become stronger and more effective when children and adolescents are heard, respected, and meaningfully engaged in decisions that affect their lives. Every child has the right to the highest attainable standard of health.”
A key outcome of the meeting will be the adoption of 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐅 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 “𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬” (2026–2030).
