Description

Children are the least responsible for climate change and the most vulnerable to it. What is less well understood is that investing in children, from the early years through the life course, builds resilience and is a powerful strategy to combat climate change. Unfortunately, including children in policy solutions and action plans remains on the periphery of global climate negotiations.

With the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30) approaching, this was a critical opportunity to shift the discourse and position children at the center of climate negotiations. In this webinar, participants heard from some of those leading these efforts and learn how to help in influence the planning process in their own countries.

Specifically, participants:

  • Understood why COP is critical to the child rights agenda
  • Learned what policy and financing opportunities are at stake at COP 30, and at the country level.
  • Heard about global, regional, and national efforts to position children’s needs on the climate agenda.
  • Gained key messages, tools, and other resources to support their advocacy efforts at home.

This was an opportunity to learn from child rights advocates around the world, including UNICEF, Alana Institute, the Child Rights International Network, and others. Participants could leverage this moment to advocate for tangible and practical actions that put children at the center of the climate change agenda.
