Tresillian is an organisation which provides a residential early parenting service in New South Wales, Australia, and was established in 1918.

The Centenary Conference was attended by 200 child and family health nurses and about 20 speakers and members of Tresillian senior staff. Professor Jane Fisher was invited to speak on the topic of ‘Society, women’s health, family wellbeing and early childhood – they are all connected.’  In her presentation, Professor Fisher drew on the Nurturing Care Framework to make the case that nurturing care is central to achieving all three.

The main takeaway from the Conference was the fundamental importance of the early years of life and for clinical and social services to be highly attuned to the needs of families, especially families who are experiencing difficulties, and to offer support with skills building through parenting education.
