Lebanon Integrated Micronutrient, Anthropometric and Child Development (LIMA) Survey
Almost five years into Lebanon’s devastating multi-pronged crisis, a new national survey reveals that malnutrition keeps worsening at an alarming rate and highlights how children’s health and the development of their young brains are being affected. The survey results come as the country faces an escalation of hostilities on its southern borders, which has led to significant population displacement, exposing over 40,000 women and children to severe risks of malnutrition and developmental deprivation due to disrupted access to nutritious food and essential nutrition services. Over 10,000 pregnant and lactating women are missing critical maternal nutrition and care, while more than 8,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition remain untreated.

LIMA provides state-of-the-art evidence that paves the way for informed decision-making and targeted nutrition and child development interventions, fostering a healthier future for Lebanon's most vulnerable populations. This initiative underscores the urgent need for multi-sectoral collaboration and the prioritisation of national nutrition and child development strategies to address the child growth and development crisis.
