Children: The Future Hope of Addis Ababa Early Childhood Development Program
The city government of Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, is taking a multisectoral, holistic approach to ensuring all children get the best start in life. The Children: The Future Hope of Addis Ababa Early Childhood Development Program (Future Hope of Addis) seeks to provide universal access to comprehensive ECD services for all children in Addis Ababa and to reach vulnerable children in 330,000 low-income households with intensified ECD services by 2026. This program brief provides explains why the city government of Addis Ababa is investing in its children, list the target outcomes, and explains the strategic initiatives which underpin this compehensive programme.

Addis Ababa has launched a major new program aiming to provide intensive support to 330,000 vulnerable families and children in the city, and access to comprehensive ECD services for all children by 2025. "The Future Hope of Addis" program (download) is designed to deliver parental coaching and house visits in order to improve the provision of nurturing care, child health, and nutrition, as well as reduce the stunting rate within the city.
