Nurturing care for early childhood development in India
This special supplement of the journal Indian Pediatrics explores how policies, programmes and initiatives within India are promoting nurturing care for ECD. The supplement puts particular emphasis on what pediatricians are doing, how existing touchpoints are becoming more nurturing, and provides recommendations on how to enhance undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes. The special supplement is part of a broader initiative lead by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, with support from the World Health Organization and UNICEF, to draw attention to the important role pediatricians can play in ensuring children receive nurturing care.
