WHO and UNICEF organized a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland on 1-2 July 2019 to discuss the challenges and opportunities to implement the Nurturing Care Framework in countries with high burden of HIV and develop guidance to leverage existing HIV programmes and promote integration with the ECD platform.

The government of Liberia, in collaboration with Open Society Foundation, WHO and UNICEF, will convene a multi-stakeholder national workshop to advance understanding of and programming for early childhood development.

Themes of the conference were:
1. Nurturing home environments for young children
2. Nurturing environments in services for young children
3. Nurturing environments for young children and their families in their communities/cities

In a follow-up to the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework in 2018, the WHO, UNICEF, and the World Bank Group, with support from PMNCH and ECDAN, convened a meeting called: “Innovating for early childhood development: What we have learnt to strengthen programming for nurturing care”.

The first national capacity building workshop on Care for Child Development was organized by the Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with WHO, UNICEF, USAID, PATH and African ECD Network.

This event was organized to officialise the ECD National Taskforce and finalise TORs, along with developing a roadmap for an ECD plan of action.

This conference will focus on play for children most at risk, with presentations exploring play practice for children who are differently-abled, who have experienced trauma and who are living in poverty.

Three panel presentations on the Nurturing Care Framework were organized for the 2019 Comparative & International Education Society conference.

The Nurturing Care Framework was presented during a concurrent session at the 2019 World Forum on Early Care and Education.

To mark World Autism Awareness Day experts from the WHO, UNICEF and other organisations shared information and explored opportunities for progress in this area.
