This two-day conference explored multi-sectoral approaches to promoting holistic ECD, from conception to age 8, in Pakistan.

The Partnership for Maternal Newborn & Child Health held its annual accountability breakfast on the side of UN General Assembly. This year’s theme was “Leaving no woman, child or adolescent behind on the road to UHC”.

Over 100 participants implementing initiatives for families and/or newborns in 20 countries were introduced to the Nurturing Care Framework. During the session and throughout the 3-day event, they reflected on how to go about their work differently so they could promote nurturing care, work in partnership, and strengthen systems.

USAID hosted a webinar on the science behind the first 1,000 days, brain development and nurturing care.

This national meeting was part of Mexico’s ongoing efforts to develop a multi sectoral National Early Childhood Development Strategy (Estrategia Nacional de Atención a la Primera Infancia) aligned with the Nurturing Care Framework.

This workshop was a full-day pre-meeting event with sessions on the first 1,000 days for HEU children and updates on how the Framework can inform policy and programming.

WHO and UNICEF regional office teams, in collaboration with our headquarters, will convene a multi-country orientation and planning meeting for the Nurturing Care Framework.

WHO and UNICEF organized a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland on 1-2 July 2019 to discuss the challenges and opportunities to implement the Nurturing Care Framework in countries with high burden of HIV and develop guidance to leverage existing HIV programmes and promote integration with the ECD platform.

The government of Liberia, in collaboration with Open Society Foundation, WHO and UNICEF, will convene a multi-stakeholder national workshop to advance understanding of and programming for early childhood development.
